The 1969 Toyota Corona – It All Started Here: it was Toyota's first US success. Road Test Magazine, May 1969, Toyota Corona was selected Imported Car of the Year. In summary, "So, by any yardstick - performance, styling, economy, comfort, ease of handling, etc. -- the Toyota Corona best measures up to the criteria established by our editorial staff and attested to by the most complete owner's survey in the history of the automotive industry. If any imported car in America today deserves tribute as the Imported Car of the Year, that car is the Toyota Corona."
The Corona Mark II was brought out for 1969, with a longer 99-inch wheelbase and a slightly smaller engine that produced 45% more horsepower. The weight was up very slightly, so fuel economy was barely affected. It was intended as an alternative model to the more established luxury sedan, the Crown, and the smaller Corona. It was a slightly larger vehicle than the Corona with a higher level of equipment offered at the time, sharing some of the features of the larger Crown, but taking the top position at Toyopet Store locations.
This car is consigned by a former Subaru dealer. We offer this collectible time-warp Toyota for $8,900. No financing is offered. Note: we have very limited access to detailing; the car was quickly washed and photographed. It is garaged in Groveland, "Gateway to Yosemite". We need advanced warning if you need to see it.
